Je suis de retour - I'm back!

Yes, here it was still: the great stupa of Boudha was proudly facing all four directions as ever, as ever attentionate with each pilgrim and at the same time mysteriously at ease, detached. What a pleasure to be back, to smell the same fragrances (and sometimes not so fragrant), to see the same mess, sometimes joyful, sometimes dangerous, to ear the same sounds of barking dogs, of the potato merchant (still with the same morning greetings: "alooooOOOOooo... aloooooOOOOooo..."), of early birds.

The trip was good and nothing problematic happened (the plane was a recent one and had tones of movies, and especially many Hindi movies!!! I almost did not sleep, there was too much to see, such as one of the last movies of Hritik Roshan, Guzaarish, quite well done actually - and no he does not take his shirt off). It was nice to see everybody back, from the monks of the institute where I stay this year (I worked with them last year, but this year I am actually living here, sharing the meals, the tea-breaks, at a nice pace that is conducive to good intellectual work), to my cook Maili, my previous landlord, the bookstore holders (yes, I have already been visiting them). But as always, there was one thing that I had to do as soon as I arrived:

Go drink my chai in front of the stupa. What a quality moment that was. I also went to get the indispensable companion of my stays in Kathmandu, and I followed this year Ritesh's advice by trying the green one. I am talking about the worldly famous and fantastic Kurkure:

My room is very simple, but again conducive to quiet and good work. This morning already a monkey and a rabbit came in front of my window. I couldn't get the monkey on the photo, but here is the rabbit, looking like it is coming straight from Alice in Wonderland:

In brief, I think that I'm going to feel good here and comfortable enough. Of course this morning I reunited with cold showers, but eh, I am such a big strong man (for you Wes). Here is the view of the lovely garden from my balcony (oh, did I tell you I have one?):
